Which Dermal Fillers Are Right For Me?

Apr 20, 2015

Dermal fillers are injectables often used by patients who want to reduce the signs of aging. Wrinkles, creases and a sunken appearance around the cheeks and eyes are all signs of the aging process — which dermal fillers can be used to remedy. At Mariposa MedSpa, we offer different derma fillers to help add volume and fill in fine lines and wrinkles. We’ll work with you to determine the most effective treatment options for your individual needs. Contact Mariposa MedSpa today to schedule your consultation.

Bellafill

Formerly known as Artefill, Bellafill is approved by the FDA as a permanent dermal filler used for reducing the appearance of smile lines, also called nasolabial folds. Bellafill can also be used to correct the appearance of acne scars in patients 21 years or older. Unlike other injectables, this filler is not absorbed by the body over time, meaning the results are permanent. Bellafill contains lidocaine and bovine collagen which is microsphere-enhanced by polymethylmethcrylate, or PMMA. Patients are required to undergo an allergy test before using Bellafill.

JUVEDERM

JUVEDERM is a highly popular dermal filler made from synthetic hyaluronic acid. It is available in JUVEDERM Ultra and JUVEDERM Ultra Plus. JUVEDERM Ultra is recommended for treating fine lines and moderate wrinkling of the face, while the Ultra Plus variety is used for filling deep creases and folds. JUVEDERM is also available with lidocaine, for patients who are sensitive to the pain of injections. Patients can expect the plumping effects of JUVEDERM to last between six months and two years.

Belotero Balance

Belotero Balance is an injectable gel made from hyaluronic acid that designed to fill in and smooth out moderate to severe nasolabial folds. These are the lines that are found at the sides of the nose and corners of the mouth.  Belotero Balance® corrects the etched-in lines to reveal a smoother, younger appearance.

Radiesse

Radiesse is a popular dermal filler composed of 30 percent calcium hydroxyapatite and 70 percent cellulose gel. For years, calcium hydroxyapatite has been used to repair bone defects, however this material is also effective when it comes to filling deep creases and wrinkles. Radiesse is considered semi-permanent, with effects lasting between 18 months and two years.

Our medical team at Mariposa will work with you to determine which injectable treatments will offer you the best results. Dermal fillers can be used in combination with each other, so we can create a customized treatment plan to correct any and all of your skin concerns.
